St. John's (Sidcup) Amateur Operatic Society

The Rules.

1). Prospective members may be auditioned by at least two Performing Members, one at least of whom shall be a member of the current Casting Committee.

2). All persons auditioning for a principal part shall be deemed to have joined the Society for the year in question and shall pay a year's subscription plus the production fees.

3). Any person auditioning for a principal part shall be expected to take part in that production, whether or not successful in being awarded a part.

4). Rehearsals shall normally be held in St. John's Hall on Thursdays, starting at 7.45pm, sharp.

5). A register will be kept of attendance by the Secretary- Social. Every effort must be made to advise the Secretary-Society, the Producer or the Musical Director in advance if attendance is impossible.

6). Principal rehearsals shall normally be held on Tuesdays and persons auditioning must bear in mind that attendance at such rehearsals is obligatory, except at the discretion of the Musical Director(s) and/or Producer(s).

7). Instructions given by the Stage Manager, Wardrobe Person or Front of House Manager during a performance are to be carried out without question or argument.

8). Costumed members of the cast shall not mix, mingle or dally with the audience before or during a show without the express consent of the Producer.

9). The General Committee shall be responsible for setting ticket and programme prices for all shows.

10). Money for tickets cannot be refunded, and, in normal circumstances, tickets cannot be exchanged.

11). Any money realised by the re-sale of tickets shall normally be placed to the credit of Society funds.

12). Should there be a deficit on a production, all members of the Society may be subject to a levy to meet the Society's excess of costs over income.

13). All Members and Patrons shall be given a copy of the Constitution and Rules on joining.

14). A copy of the minutes of the General Committee's meetings shall be placed on the Society noticeboard not later than the second Thursday rehearsal following the meeting.
